ATI’s Effort to Expose EPA’s Inhumane PM2.5 Human Testing Results in NC Lawsuit by Test Victim

Yesterday, an investigative report by WNCN revealed that a Durham, NC man, Matthew Cipparone, has filed a complaint against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). According to the WNCN report, Cipparone is “seeking more than $2 million in the case” from when he “participated in EPA experiments in 2011 at the agency’s labs at UNC’s School of Medicine in Chapel Hill.”

In these experiments, human test subjects were used by the EPA to research the impact of fine particulate matter, also known as PM2.5. The agency parked a running diesel truck outside of their UNC facility, attached a pipe to the truck’s exhaust, and ran the pipes inside to a lab (referred to as a “gas chamber” by the EPA), where a human test subject was placed at the other end breathing in the fumes through a gasmask type of apparatus.

ATI Senior Fellow and JunkScience.com publisher Steve Milloy is responsible for exposing EPA’s unethical human experimentation. In 2011, Milloy filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the EPA regarding their human PM2.5 experiments. Said Milloy recently, “People can’t be lied to and treated like guinea pigs by scientists. That is already federal law.” He adds, “It shows how arrogant and out of touch the EPA is with basic scientific principles and the law.”

Three North Carolina state senators have filed a bill in the legislature aimed at stopping these inhuman EPA human experimentations. See ATI’s recent press release on this action for more information.

Green-Energy Activists Declare War on Rural Coloradans

By Institute for Energy Research, May 7, 2013

Some lawmakers in Colorado want to increase the cost of electricity for all Coloradans, especially those in rural areas. Awaiting Gov. John Hickenlooper’s signature, SB 252would require rural electric cooperatives to dramatically increase the amount of electricity generated from renewable sources to 25 percent by 2020, up from the current mandate of 10 percent. This portends unambiguously higher electricity ratesfor Coloradans.
