Bill LuMaye Show featuring Paul Chesser on Obama SOTU “Clean” Energy Standards, February 3, 2011

ATI Executive Director Paul Chesser discusses Obama’s proposed national “Expensive Energy mandate” (also known as RES or RPS) and its devastating impact on the economy. Last week, Obama announced a goal of “80% clean sources” for energy, yet a over 20 years, ATI’s studies (conducted by the respected Beacon Hill Institute) a 30% standard would cost several trillion dollars. Also discussed: the environmental damage wrought by wind (citing the Bentek study) and biofuels.

Green-Energy Activists Declare War on Rural Coloradans

Some lawmakers in Colorado want to increase the cost of electricity for all Coloradans, especially those in rural areas. Awaiting Gov. John Hickenlooper’s signature, SB 252would require rural electric cooperatives to dramatically increase the amount of electricity generated from renewable sources to 25 percent by 2020, up from the current mandate of 10 percent. This portends unambiguously higher electricity ratesfor Coloradans.
